Key details:

1.0 FTE position (based in Port Melbourne)

12-month fixed term

$58 000-$90 000 AUD (Based on experience) + 10.5% superannuation

Share/option (ESOP) packages will be considered for the right candidate as additional compensation.

We are looking for a full-time appointment, but open to considering potential part-time applicants.

Note: This is a wet lab position, so travel to our Port Melbourne site is required.

Founded in 2020, Diag-Nose.io is an early-stage startup company developing novel tools to empower ear, nose and throat specialists with actionable clinical insights to tackle one of the biggest problems in healthcare; empirical treatment of chronic nasal disorders.

Based in Port Melbourne, our team is passionate about pioneering precision medicine tools with the aim of improving one billion lives. To achieve this mission, Diag-Nose.io is developing the next-generation of nasal proteomics tests to create personalised inflammation profiles for each patient and advise on their treatment plan.

We are looking for a diligent, and motivated immunoassay scientist to join our world-class team to bring our company’s vision to life. Reporting to the chief scientific officer, you will help develop the suite of biomarker tools used to analyze patient samples and contribute to our mission of alleviating the burden of chronic nasal disease.

Primary Responsibility:

As an immunoassay scientist, you will provide expertise in the biology of protein biomarkers, immunoassay development, and analysis. You will contribute to developing, optimizing, and validating multiplexed assays to measure proteins accurately and reproducibly using nasal samples.

Key Duties:

  • Work closely with team members to plan, conduct and document experimental studies related to the current and future R&D and IVD development projects.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Identify and replenish testing lab inventory and supplies as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all applicable health and safety requirement.
  • Performs work in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures specifically to lab instrumentation.
  • Maintains laboratory notebooks under applicable regulatory standards and good documentation practices.
  • Present technical data to cross-functional audiences.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment based upon professionalism, collaboration and communication.

Essential requirements:

  • Associate degree (or higher) in Applied Science or an equivalent qualification with subjects relevant to pathology/life sciences/molecular biology/immunology from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Minimum 1-5 years of experience performing immunoassay tests using either ELISA or LUMINEX technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellence in data management and lab organization, including experimental design documentation, report writing and experimental protocol writing.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in Australia (Full Australian working rights.)

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience with ISO13485, GLP, GMP guidelines.
  • Familiarity or experience with multiplexed immunoassay techniques and platforms (LUMINEX, OLINK, Meso Scale Discovery)
  • Experience creating and optimizing custom immunoassay kits.
  • Experience in regulatory requirements for laboratory assay development (In-house IVD/CLIA lab developed test) or other IVDs (TGA/FDA/CE mark)
